SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 - New templates have been added! Check the download section for the new 2008 Mazda Miata, 2011 Honda CR-V, 2009 Nissan Cube, and 1979 VW Bus. And as always if you have any templates that you don't see on the site please send them my way and we'll get them on the site!

SEPTEMBER 2, 2010 - Lately there has been some concern by designers about others "stealing" designs and posting them as there own. Car Town Customs does NOT condone plagiarism and furthermore will not tolerate it. Please make sure before you submit a design that it is your own work. You may submit designs from others IF written permission is given to do so. Otherwise your submission will be removed from the site if it is brought to our attention. Multiply violations will result in not being about to submit designs to the site anymore so please keep that in mind. Thank you for your understanding and lets keep the community strong by keeping it clean!

PROGRAMS: 
GIMP
A great alternative to Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, GIMP provides the basic necessities you need to work with the templates of Car Town. GIMP supports most major file extensions such as TIFF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and PSD and is available on most operating systems such as Windows XP/Vista, Mac OSx, and Linux. And the best part about GIMP is it's totally FREE!


MISC:

This is a very helpful place if you need some help developing color pallets, combinations, and understanding how and why colors look good or bad together. It's basically a guide to all you need to know about how to use colors your advantage to make your designs appealing.

  9. You want a good free alt to Photoshop try Paint.NET. Its totally free. Its won several awards for best open source graphics editing software. Supports layer and masks.

  10. Question. On the CarTown forums, a user named "Lemonade" posted a few templates that had guidelines such as handles, windows, trim, etc.

    For the life of me I have searched EVERY nook and cranny on the net to find some idea how he did them. Only because he did 15 of the cars. there are a few more than that as you know. Does anyone have an outlet as to how he did it? Do you have all them? Any ideas on where to find them :) Some of these cars are very difficult without seeing the trim.     Do you want a blank template? Or a skin (colors and such)? I have a detailed template for the SLK

    No response on my detailed template requests. I mean blank templates with trim lines and such.
